Ukraine hopes to reach agreement with Russia and Kazakhstan to jointly construct nuclear facilities on Ukrainian territory as well as territories of other countries. According to president Viktor Yanukovych, Ukraine has agreed to take part in development of a base for production of nuclear fuel. Yanukovych noted that there exists a trilateral agreement, that Russia, Kazakhstan, and Ukraine will have equal - 33% each - right to participate in this project. The Enerhoatom national nuclear power generating company's President Yurii Nedashkivskyi told journalists that Yanukovych was speaking of acceleration of cooperation between the three countries within the scope of the Ukrainian-Kazakh-Russian joint enterprise that was founded in 2001 for production of nuclear fuel (the Kyiv-based UkrTVS joint enterprise). Nedashkivskyi noted that Ukraine searched for companies to supply the technology for production of nuclear fuel (because this joint enterprise never began operation).
