Ukraine and EBRD to intensify raising funds for Chornobyl Projects.

Ukraine and the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development have agreed on intensification of raising the funds for completion of all the Chornobyl NPP objects. According to First Vice Prime Minister Andrii Kliuev, the parties came to the agreement to prepare and coordinate a joint Action Plan on speeding up the solution of the Chornobyl problems. EBRD Vice President Horst Reichenbach and Kliuyev agreed that the Ukrainian government will approve accurate schedules for implementation of all Chornobyl NPP projects that will be coordinated with the EBRD. According to Reichenbach, as of now, there are exact estimates of the cost of all projects. He believes that they will be approved by the Assembly of Donors as the basis for the further fund raising. Reichenbach pointed out that since the government has started to control the Chornobyl NPP projects, a noticeable progress has been observed in their realization. According to estimation the Chornobyl NPP projects cost amounts to EUR 1.55bn. An additional contributions of the donor countries to the Chornobyl Shelter Fund are foreseen at around EUR 550-600mn.
