Swedish EU presidency: Working group to be set up for Croatias accession treaty.

By bne IntelliNews December 4, 2009
The Swedish EU presidency said that it was appropriate to start the drafting of Croatia s accession treaty and it would invite the Committee of Permanent Representatives (COREPER) to set up a working group for the purpose. COREPER will discuss the proposal today, which will be formally adopted next week at the meeting of EU foreign ministers. In October, the EU prepared the main financial package, under which the country could receive over EUR 3.5bn from EU funds in the first two years of EU membership. Thus, the Swedish EU presidency invited the EC to start a joint position on closing the policy chapters on agriculture and rural development, regional policy and coordination of structural instruments, and finance and budgetary provisions, as they were related with the financial package.
