Subscriber numbers of wireless operator Vodafone Albania have reached 1.7mn at the end of June, up by 10.8% y/y, according to figures in the parent company interim management statement. The bulk 93.6% of the total subscribers of the operator, which is the second-largest on the Albanian market, used pre-paid services. The interim report did not include information on the average revenue per user and therefore estimates for the company's revenues in the first quarter of the financial year 2009-2010 cannot be made. Vodafone's main rival on the local market is Greek-owned AMC, whose parent company Cosmote reported total susbscriber numbers of 2mn at the end of March. We note that third mobile telecom Eagle Mobile is also presented on local market, while the newest telecom firm PLUS is expected to launch operations soon.
