Slovenian retailer Mercator to enter Macedonia.

Slovenian retail chain Mercator purchased a land plot of 50,000 sqm in Skopje where they intent to build their first store in the country, local media reported quoting the manager of Mercators local operations Jordan Minov. The company is not preparing the paperwork needed tog get planning permit and hopes to start construction within several months. According to Minov, Mercator has already researched the domestic retail market, had chosen the store locations in the cities and has prepared its marketing strategy for the period until 2012. Mercator, which has already invested EUR 150mn in regional expansion, is also preparing to enter Albania . Currently, its foreign operations include Serbia , Croatia , Montenegro , Bosnia and Herzegovina and Bulgaria .
