About 1.7mn eligible voters had the opportunity to confirm or reject the deal already ratified by the parliaments of the two countries. The turnout was over 42.28%. The results of the referendum are crucial for the ratification of the agreement by the Slovene parliament. If the voters reject the agreement, then the government and parliament will not be able to raise the topic in the next year. The final official results will be known on June 8. We note that Slovene PM Borut Pahor asked Slovenians to support the arbitration agreement between Croatia and Slovenia. At end-April Slovenia's main opposition party SDS called for rejection of the arbitration agreement. The law on the arbitration agreement with Croatia was passed by parliament at its session on April 19, 2010.
