Serbian president Tadic welcomes new Albanian ambassador to Belgrade.

By bne IntelliNews January 29, 2010
Newly appointed Albanian ambassador to Belgrade Shpetim Caushi presented his credentials to Serbian president Boris Tadic. Caushi, who is former representative to the Council of Europe in Strasbourg , assured president Tadic of the good will of the Albanian government towards further development of the bilateral relations. The Serbian head of state considered that the development of the relations would give a new impetus with the signing of various agreements, which will serve as example of encouragement for the entire region. He added that the two countries have great potential in consolidation of the cooperation, while the EU integration prospects will facilitate the strengthening of ties. We note that the relations between Albania and Serbia suffered a setback in recent months. Belgrade maintains its position not to recognise Kosovo, which unilaterally proclaimed independence from Serbia in February 2008.
