Sales volume of car maker Suzuki Hungary shrinks by 67.4% y/y in 2009.

The Hungarian branch of Japanese car producer Suzuki generated a sales volume of 8,112 units in 2009, the company announced. This represented a massive decline of 67.4% y/y but the company still managed to retain the top position of the Hungarian market despite that overall market contraction was somewhat weaker at around 60% y/y during the year. Suzukis market share consequently slipped by 2.7pps y/y to 13.5% in 2009. The companys plant in the country meanwhile planned to maintain the level of output, producing180,000 cars in 2010. Spokeswoman for the plant, Viktoria Ruska, pointed out that a revenue growth was targeted for the current year despite the projected stagnation of sales.
