By bne IntelliNews May 27, 2010
As announced by president Dmitry Medvedev, the working group on Russia's accession to World Trade Organisation decided to renew direct talks on the accession to WTO. Medvedev stressed that Russia is tired of being in the ,,waiting room" of the organisation for years. The announcement comes after unsuccessful talks with Belarus and Kazakhstan on the creation of a Customs Union, as a part of which Russia was previously planning to access WTO. At the same time at the meeting with representatives of US venture capital funds, Medvedev expressed hope that US administration and businesses will support Russia's accession to the organization.
