Russia deepens cooperation with Qatar in gas extraction.

During his meeting with Qatar Foreign Minister Jasem al-Tani, PM Vladimir Putin stressed that Qatar and Russia should coordinate its actions on fuel markets, being two largest producers of hydrocarbon fuels and especially natural gas. Putin noted that Russia is interested that Forum of Gas Exporting Countries which was founded two years ago and also includes Qatar would become a functioning instrument of regulating activity on global natural gas market. Qatar delegation held a working meeting with Gazprom representatives, discussing future cooperation between Russian energy giant and Qatar Petroleum (Gazprom is interested in developing Qatar gas field North Field which is considered to be one of the largest in the world, while Qatar seeks participation in the liquefied gas production in Jamal region).
