Romania expels Russian diplomat in retaliation.

By bne IntelliNews August 18, 2010
Romania declared persona non-grata and expelled a Russian diplomat after Russia took a similar decision earlier this week in regard to a Romanian diplomat working at the country's Embassy in Moscow. Furthermore, the Romanian foreign affairs ministry claims that Russia broke the stipulations of the Vienna Convention signed in 1961 regarding diplomatic procedures. Russia arrested and then expelled earlier this week Gabriel Grecu, a Romanian diplomat working for the country's Embassy at Moscow after the Federal Security Bureau (the internal counterintelligence agency of the Russian Federation) accused him of having carried ,,hostile activities" against the Russian Federation; the case was broadly publicized by Russian authorities, which is quite unusual for such cases.
