President Basescu says Romania sticks with 20% CO2 reduction target.

By bne IntelliNews March 26, 2010
Romania sticks with the 20% target for the reduction of CO2 emissions by 2020 instead of the proposed, more ambitious 30% target, President Traian Basescu stated while departing for the European Council in Brussels . The existing targets for CO2 reduction, 20% rise in energy efficiency and 20% share of renewable resources are already challenging for Romania , he explained. The climate change topic and the Union?s stance in global negotiations on the issue is expected to rank high on the European Council?s agenda, besides the EU?s new economic strategy envisaging workplace creation and economic growth.
