The lack of political consensus challenges the implementation of the election reform in Albania within the legal deadlines, OSCE concluded in its latest report. The prolonged confrontation between the government and the opposition has blocked the work of the institution, particularly in terms of adopting crucial laws. Reform in the judicial system was also a problem for the country. The judicial practice still suffered lack of transparency and faced a number of innervations, OSCE pointed out. On the positive side, the government has achieved some progress in the fight against organized crime and corruption with the adoption of relevant legislation. However, these two areas remain the main challenges ahead of the countrys European integration process. Finally, the issue of properties was defined as one of the unresolved problems in Albania. |
