Novomatic completes acquisition of Albanian National Lottery

By bne IntelliNews December 5, 2016

Europe’s leading gaming technology group Novomatic has completed the final required steps for the successful acquisition of the Albanian national lottery, the group said.

The acquisition was completed on November 30. Following a tender in 2012, national lottery operator Lotaria Kombetare obtained a 10-year licence to establish, operate and manage the Albanian national lottery. Since than it has operated under huge losses.

“With the completion of the acquisition, Novomatic continues to systematically strengthen its lottery business,” the group said in a statement on its website on December 1.

“Eastern and South Eastern Europe are among the core markets in which Novomatic has established an excellent position due to its early commitments,” Harald Neumann, CEO of Novomatic said.

With the successful completion of the acquisition of 100% of the shares of Lotaria Kombettare, Novomatic intends to further enhance its position and to implement its strategy as a full-service provider for the gaming industry in the region.

Novomatic said that Lotaria Kombetare complements its portfolio with its reliable, secure and high-quality lottery products with high payouts and considerable chances of winning.

Novomatic, which is based in Austria, has locations in more than 50 countries and exports high-tech electronic gaming equipment and solutions to 80 countries.
