New waste disposal scheme starts operating in Albanias Lezhe.

A new waste collection scheme and a recycling centre have launched activities in the north-western Albanian city of Lezhe, the Swiss Cooperation Office in Tirana announced on Friday. The recycling centre has an annual capacity to process about 7,500 tonnes of waste to benefit nearly 45,000 inhabitants in Lezha. It will also improve the citys environment, tourist and business potential. Its one of the first projects of this kind implemented in Albania and is expected to contribute to finding a more sustainable solution for the rising environmental problems in the country.
