Nestle Ukraine raises sales by 16.2% y/y in 2009.

Nestle Ukraine increased the sales of foodstuffs by 16.2% y/y to UAH 3.122bn in 2009, the company has said. The company also said that despite complicated economic situation in 2009, Nestle managed to retain strong positions in all categories of products represented in Ukraine : coffee and beverages, confectionery goods, children and special food, breakfast cereals, food for pets, and ice-cream. The company also implemented several investment projects, aiming at further development of business in Ukraine . The sales in the cookery segment (Torchyn trademark) made up UAH 878mn. The company said it retains leading positions in the category of cold sauces, in particular, the stake of Torchyn ketchups in the market made up 61.6%, mayonnaise - 24.3%, mustard - 47%, and sauces - 50%. The sales in the segment of coffee and other beverages in 2009, were UAH 1.021bn, 34% y/y up. At the same time, the stake of the Nescafe brand in the Ukrainian market of instant coffee made up 24.7% in monetary terms. The company also sold confectionary goods for UAH 591mn, which is 14% y/y increase. At the same time, in 2009, the company expanded the assortment of confectionery goods represented with Nestle and Svitoch trademarks. The company sold children food for UAH 142mn, having increased the indicator of 2008 by 17%. The sale of breakfast cereals in 2009 made up over UAH 100mn. The sale of Nestle Professional division of the company, which is the supplier of complex solutions in the catering segment rose by 23% to UAH 123mn. Nestle owns the Svitoch confectionery (96.89% of shares) and Volynholding (100%).
