NBU: Ukraine unlikely to receive fourth tranche of IMF loan by end-2009.

By bne IntelliNews December 10, 2009
Valerii Lytvytskyi, the head of a group of advisors at the National Bank of Ukraine , does not think the International Monetary Fund will transfer the fourth tranche of the stand by loan to Ukraine until the end of 2009. In his opinion, the branches of the Ukrainian government have not arrived at a consensus concerning the further anti-crisis policy, which is one of major demands of the International Monetary Fund for continuation of the cooperation with Ukraine within the program. However, the delay with receiving of the fourth tranche of the stand by loan of the IMF won't result in destabilization of the forex market in Ukraine , according to Valerii Lytvytskyi. He noted that exchange rate of the Ukrainian hryvnia to the US dollar will remain stable until the end of 2009. Yet, he refused to provide currency market forecasts for 2010. In his opinion, it is impossible to forecast the rate without information on budget revenues and outlays, including budget deficit, which has a direct impact on the national currency rate.
