Mechel Romanian plant triples rolled profiles output in 2010.

Mechel has tripled the output of steel rolled profiles in its local production facility Laminorul Braila to 164,099 tonnes in 2010, Bursa daily reported, quoting a company report. The performances of Mechel's other local plants increased too over the year. The crude steel production at Mechel Targoviste rose by 38% y/y to 827,371 tonnes and returned to the levels before the slump in demand that occurred in late 2008. The volume of hot rolled goods also increased by 46% y/y to 855,760 tonnes. The group's local output of steel wires, manufactured at Mechel Campia Turzii, accelerated by 38% y/y to 152,180 tonnes. The group announced that it will commission a new steel casting facility at Ductil Steel Otelu Rosu in Q1.
