Macedonias unemployed down 14.4% y/y at end-March.

The number of registered unemployed people in Macedonia decreased by 14.4% on the year to 276,715 at end-March 2012, according to data from the countrys employment agency. The drop accelerated from 13.7% at end-February. In monthly terms, the number of unemployed Macedonians edged down by 1.1% in March, after falling by 0.3% in the previous month. The latest Labour Force Survey conducted by the statistics office showed that the country's labour force comprised 937,326 people in Q4 2011. A total of 297,986 were unemployed, which represents an unemployment rate of 31.8%. The survey is conducted in accordance with international standards and recommendations (ILO and EUROSTAT).
