Macedonian Railways-Transport will join the new regional freight transport alliance Cargo 10. On September 9, the national railway operators of Croatia, Slovenia and Serbia signed a protocol on the establishment of the joint company Cargo X, to be based in Ljubljana, with the purpose of providing faster freight services along the pan-European transport Corridor 10. Cargo Xs first director Director Robert Vuga announced that the joint firm would have at its disposal 5% of all trains of the three founding companies and that they do not plan major infrastructure investments in the initial period. The alliance also includes the railways of Republika Srpska. The decision for the inclusion of Macedonian Railways was made at a meeting in Zagreb yesterday after a Macedonian representative expressed the countrys readiness to join the alliance. The agreement on Macedonias participation is likely to be inked before the alliance launches operations in early October.
