Macedonian GDP per capita in 2008 at 33% of EU average.

The GDP per capita in Macedonia in 2008 corresponded to 33% of the average for the EU, data from Eurostat showed. In previous years, the 2007 GDP was 31% lower and in 2006 by 29% lower than that of the EU average. On a regional scale, Bosnia and Herzegovina performed poorer with 31% and Albania with 26%. The countries with higher percentage in the region are Montenegro (43%), Bulgaria (41%) and Serbia (36%).
