By bne IntelliNews August 20, 2012
Macedonian state-owned power generation company ELEM said it has signed a contract with a consortium comprising Siemens Wind (Denmark) and Siemens AS (Greece) for the supply of 16 wind turbines. The contract is worth EUR 41.1mn, ELEM said in a statement, adding that it completes the international tender procedure for building Macedonias first wind farm, Bogdanci. Each of the turbines has a capacity of 2.3 MW. Besides the equipments delivery, the deal also envisages the installation, commissioning and maintenance of the turbines over a 10-year period. All turbines must be commissioned within 13 months and the wind farm is expected to start electricity generation in the second half of 2013. ELEM also reminds that in January it signed a contract with a consortium comprising Greek company Terna and Siemens for building road infrastructure and installing a 20/110 kV transformer station and a power transmission line that will connect the wind farm with the country's transmission grid. The works have already started. The total value of the wind farm project is estimated at EUR 55.5mn. This amount is secured via a EUR 32.9mn loan from German development bank KfW, while ELEM will provide the remaining EUR 22.6mn from own funds.
