Macedonian bourse turnover narrows 45.6% y/y in 2009.

The Macedonian stock exchange posted a turnover of MKD 6.7bn (EUR 110mn) in 2009, down by 45.6% from 2008, the bourses annual report showed. The turnover of shares and bonds fell by 58.1% and 10.3%, respectively. The volume of the block transaction narrowed by 37.2% to MKD 2.6bn. The number of transactions contracted by 20.6%. The ordinary trading transaction stood at 34,396 in number, down 20.5%. The number of block transactions narrowed to 28 from 52, while the public auctions dropped to 13 from 36. The indices registered an overall growth with MBI-10 soaring 31.3% to 2,751.88 points. MBID increased by 37.1% to 3,035.98 points and OMB by 2.29% to 110.06 points. The most traded companies were Komercijalna Banka(26.08%), Makstil (17.38%) and Alkaloid (14.94%). The companies,. Whose shares rose the most, were Uslugi (170.77%), Makstil (103.30%), Toplofikacija (63.48%), Alkaloid (58.57%) and Inter - Transsped (42%). The biggest losers in 2009 were Makoteks (77.78%), Lotarija na Makedonija (70%), Stater Banka Kumanovo (44.44%), Tikves (40%) and EMO (37.78%). The brokerages and the investment funds generated MKD 13.4bn turnover. Among the five, brokerages, the one with the highest turnover was Delta Broker with MKD 2.4bn, followed by Komercijalna Banka with MKD 1.4bn, next came Ilirika, Invest Broker and Inovo Broker with almost identical results.
