Macedonia, Greece urge each other to compromise on name issue.

By bne IntelliNews September 29, 2010
Macedonian foreign minister Antonio Milososki and his Greek counterpart Dimitris Droutsas both blamed the other side for the lack of solution of the dispute on Macedonias name, Macedonian state news agency MIA reported. In an interview with Voice of America, Milososki complained that Greece was not moving towards a compromise. On the other hand, in his address before the 65th session of the UN General Assembly, Droutsas said that his country has already done its job and compromise happens when the two sides meet in the middle. Both politicians also commented that the other side was not making constructive efforts. Milososki stated that Greek diplomacy engaged in a "blame game", while Droutsas said Macedonia was creating an atmosphere of antagonism and animosity. The dispute over Macedonias official name has resulted in Greece putting a veto on Macedonias accession to NATO. Greece has also brought up the issue in regard to Macedonias preparation for EU accession talks.
