Macedonia calls tenders for 4G frequencies, digital TV broadcasting.

Macedonias agency for electronic communications has called two separate tenders for awarding frequencies for 4G mobile communications and for selecting an operator for digital terrestrial TV broadcasting, Utrinski vesnik daily reported. The 4G operator will use the Long Term Evolution (LTE) standard. After the allocation of the radio-frequencies, the operator is expected to start providing services to end-users as of September 1, 2013. The 4G operator will be required to cover 90% of Macedonias territory within four years. The digital terrestrial TV broadcasting will be under the DVB-T standard. The selected operator will be required to cover 80% of the countrys households by June 1, 2013.
