LV: Latvian food prices highest in Baltics in 2009-Eurostat.

In 2009 prices of food and non-alcoholic beverages in Latvia were the highest among the Baltic States , EU-wide survey by Eurostat shows. In Latvia last year food and beverages prices amounted to 85% of EU average, while in Estonia and Lithuania the indicator stood at 80% and 74%, respectively. At the same Latvia posted 8 th cheapest food prices in EU overall. Among the Baltic States , Latvia was the leader in terms of prices for all food segments, such as bread, meat, milk and milk products and eggs.
