LV: Latvia posts 2.9% y/y PPI in August.

Producer prices in Latvia in August 2012 increased by 2.9% y/y, according to the report by European Statistical Agency Eurostat. Producer prices in Estonia and Lithuania increased by 3.2% and 5.1% y/y, respectively, in the reporting month. Producer prices increased by 2.7% in y/y terms in August in both EU and eurozone, respectively. At the same time, in m/m terms among EU states producer prices in Latvia the smallest increases of 0.3%. In Estonia and Lithuania m/m producer prices increased by 0.5% and 0.7%. According to Latvias Central Statistical Bureau, Producers Price Index was 2.2% y/y in August 2012, almost flat vs. 2.1% y/y seen in July and moderating from Junes 2.3% y/y, May's 2.6% y/y and April's 4% y/y. To compare, in 2011 overall producer prices increased by 7.7% y/y, out of which domestic sales increased by 8.7% and prices of exported goods increased by 6.2%.
