LV: airBaltic sues Riga Airport for EUR 34mn.

By bne IntelliNews March 14, 2011
National air carrier airBaltic sues Riga International Airport (RIX), claiming that the company overpaid EUR 34mn to the airport in the recent years due to discriminatory tariff policies. airBaltic is unsatisfied on paying higher fees and tariffs than Irish discounted Ryanair. For the past few months, the airport and the airline have been engaged in an ongoing conflict over LVL 5mn debt of airBaltic to RIX and airBaltic claiming LVL 7mn from RIX in damages due to unfair tariffs's's policy that the airport allegedly used. Two companies were close to signing a memorandum settling the conflict, but failed to do so. airBaltic agreed on pre-paying for the airport's'ss services, but also called for an independent auditor to evaluate RIX tariff's'ss structure and to conclude whether it is discriminatory against airBaltic.
