LT: Expatriates account for 1.3% of Lithuanian population in 2008.

In Lithuania in 2008 expatriates accounted for 1.3% of total population, Eurostat announced. In the EU27 states 30.8mn people were expatriates. Of the total expatriates population 11.3mn were citizens of another EU country, while the rest were from other countries, 6.0mn coming from non-EU European countries, 4.7mn coming from Africa, and 3.7mn from Asia. Romania was the native country for the biggest group of expatriates in the EU amounting to 1.7mn people, followed by Italy with 1.3mn people, and Poland with 1.2mn people living abroad.
