Lakshmi Mittal buys Beryslav Building Materials Plant in Ukraine.

By bne IntelliNews July 22, 2010
The world's largest steel producer, Arcelor Mittal, has acquired Beryslav Building Materials Plant (Kherson region, south of Ukraine) for the supply of limestone to its subsidiary company, ArcelorMittal Kryviy Rih (Dnipropetrovsk region, east of Ukraine). According to ArcelorMittal Kryviy Rih, the deal was concluded on Jul 20, 2010. This transaction will help ArcelorMittal Kryviy Rih become more self-sufficient in terms of limestone supply, as the acquired plant will provide about a quarter of the needs in this material. It should be noted, however, that works will continue with the current suppliers, as in any case different kinds of limestone are required in large quantities, which can not be secured only by the newly acquired company, reads a report by Executive Vice-President of Arcelor Mittal, Arnaud Poupard-Lafarge. ArcelorMittal Kryviy Rih is the largest producer of rolled steel in Ukraine, specializing in the production of elongated rolled products, in particular, reinforcement and wire rod. Its main markets are Middle East, Europe, Africa, the EU and Eastern European countries.
