Italy provides EUR 15mn to support Albanian SMEs.

The Italian government has agreed to provide EUR 15mn to support the development of small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) in Albania, AINA news agency informed. Albanian finance minister Ridvan Bode, the minister of economy, Edmond Haxhinasto, and the Italian ambassador to Tirana, Massimo Gaiani, have signed an agreement on the financial aid. Italy provided similar assistance to Albania in 2011. In Albania, SMEs account for 99.9% of total business registrations and their share in total employment stands at 81.8%, according to the latest SME Policy Index of the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD).
