Indian businessman Subrata Roy has purchased hotel Slavija in the lakeside city of Ohrid, Sitel TV broadcaster reported. According to unofficial information, the price is EUR 5mn. Subrata Roy is the founder and chairman of conglomerate Sahara India Pariwar. He is paying a three-day visit to Macedonia. Deputy PM and minister of finance Zoran Stavreski plays host to the Indian tycoon. The businessman will use hotel Slavija for accommodating the teams that will work on the implementation of the luxury tourism complex project Saharayan Macedonia at the Ohrid Lake. The project is planned to be built on an area of 240 ha. The complex will include hotels, casinos, residential and recreational facilities and a golf course. The design of the complex was prepared by Atkins, a leading engineering and design consulting firm headquartered in the UK. Meanwhile, Subrata Roy said at a press conference that their goal is to build a world-class complex, to rank among the top 10 destinations globally. He could not specify when construction will begin. The businessman did not know the exact cost of the complex either, and said that it will be in the order of several hundred million US dollars, Utrinski vesnik daily reported.
