Hungarys passenger cars registrations climb 20.2% in Feb 2012.

Registrations of new cars in Hungary increased by 20.2% y/y to 4,262 vehicles in February 2012, MTI news agency reported, citing data from market researcher Datahouse. New car registrations surged by 44% in January 2012. The favourable dynamics was party due to the introduction of lower vehicle registration tax (30% on average) as of January 1, 2012. The number of all new vehicles registrations grew by 17.3% y/y to 5,520 units in February 2012. Registrations of light vehicles were up by 21.1% y/y to 953 units, while of heavy commercial vehicles declined 3.2% y/y to 245 units. The number of newly-registered motorcycles dropped 46.2% y/y to 57. Only 6 buses were registered last month compared to 21 in February 2011.
