Registrations of new cars in Hungary increased by 5% y/y to 4,954 vehicles in September 2011, MTI news agency quoted market researcher Datahouse. Although with more moderate pace of change, this is the second consecutive month with positive development after a 19.8% jump in August. Among the different vehicle types, the decline in passenger cars registrations of 2.1% y/y to 3,481 in the month was offset by expansion in the vehicle category. Heavy commercial vehicles registrations rose by 23.6% to 398, while light commercial vehicles were up by 38.6% to 933. On the other hand, buses and motorcycles recorded a decline y/y, as the registrations stood at 10 and 132, respectively, but the numbers were not much changed on the month. The cumulative sales of new vehicles climbed 8.5% y/y in the first three quarters of the year.
