Hungary's mobile market penetration drops further to 117.4% as at end-June.

Hungary's mobile market penetration continued to decrease in June, dropping by 0.6pps m/m to 117.4%, latest data from the National Communications Authority (NMHH) showed. After picking up in late 2010, the number of mobile subscriptions per 100 inhabitants has been decreasing each month since the beginning of the year. There were 11.70mn mobile subscriptions as at end May, down by 0.57% m/m. Although there was no change in terms of market share distribution, Telenor continued to lose subscribers in the month, with its total number of subscriptions decreasing by more than 50,000. Vodafone and T-Mobile lost less than 5,000 subscribers each, but due to the overall drop in penetration increased their share on the market. The market leader, T-Mobile held a share of 44.5% (up by 0.22pps), followed by Telenor with 32.9% (down by 0.33pps) and Vodafone with 22.6% (up by 0.11pps).
