Hungary's June agricultural PPI slows to 1.5% y/y.

Hungary's agricultural producer price index (PPI) increased by 1.5% y/y in June 2012, following a revised 1.9% growth in May, data from the statistics office showed. The growth was driven by a 8.9% y/y increase in the prices of live animals and animal products. Prices grew in all subgroups, with the single exception of milk costs. Prices of pigs for slaughter and fresh eggs, continued to rise at a double-digit pace. Producer prices in the other main agricultural group - crops declined by 1.7% y/y in June, slightly slower that Mays revised drop of 1.8% y/y. Producer prices of cereals and potatoes dropped further in the month. Costs of fruits grew by 7.3% y/y, reversing from an annual decline in the previous five months. Prices in the segments of flowers, fresh vegetables and industrial crops continued to expand in June. In aggregate terms, the agricultural PPI was up by 0.6% y/y in H1 2012, with live animals and animal products increasing by 12.5% y/y, while crops decreasing by 4.6% y/y.
