The Greek government fully supports the rapid integration of Albania into the European Union, Greek alternate foreign minister Dimitris Droutsas told his counterpart Ilir Meta in Athens. Greek authorities also expressed political will to integrate the entire Western Balkan region into the EU by 2014. The two state officials described the relations between their countries as very good, adding that further intensification was needed. Meta praised the efforts of the Greek government to complete the legal framework with the purpose to enable the full integration of the ethnic Albanian community into the neighbouring country. The Greek state grants citizenship and the right to vote in local elections to second-generation born ethnic Albanians educated in Greece.
