The European Parliament delegation led by Gunnar Hoekmark visited the country and expressed confidence that Croatia will be the next EU member state. Hoekmark stressed that the Croatian-Slovenian model of resolving problems would have positive effect on the entire regions relations. PM Kosor said that the completion of the EU accession talks was one of the three priorities of the government. She pointed out that the final stage of constitutional amendments would be launched in April. PM Kosor stressed that Croatia was ready to finalise the negotiations for the EU membership this year. We note that an EU position prepared for a meeting of the Croatia-EU Stabilistion and Association Council, which will be held in Brussels, said that the country had made significant progress in its EU accession negotiations, but needs to continue its reforms, especially in areas, such as judiciary and public administration, fight against corruption and organised crime, protection of minorities, return of refugees, prosecution of war criminals and further economic reforms. The public support for countrys EU membership increased to 49.7% in March after support of 48.4% a month earlier, the latest survey by Promocija Plus of early March showed.
