EU to provide EUR 50mn to support projects in Albania in 2011.

The European union will provide EUR 50mn in 2011 to support infrastructure, environment and water supply projects to be awarded via e-procurement system, local TV Klan reported citing the EU's ambassador to Albania, Ettore Sequi. The e-procurement system, launched in April 2008, was introduced under the Millennium Challenge Threshold Programme financed by the US government. The project received the 2010 UN public service excellence award in the category of Improving transparency, accountability, and responsiveness of public services.
