EU parliament urges Albania to solve political crisis.

By bne IntelliNews February 16, 2011
The European Parliament has called on Albanian political leaders to solve the crisis in the country, local Klan TV reported. The parliament discussed the situation in Albania in a late session on February 15, hearing a report of EU enlargement commissioner Stefan Fule. The member of the parliament agreed that the political crisis will not affect the visa liberalisation. The EU parliament said that the next local vote on May 8 will be an important test for the democracy in Albania. Strasbourg also urged opposition leader Edi Rama to respect the functioning of the institutions. Rama vowed to continue anti-government protests, despite calls from the international community to cancel them. The tension in the country escalated after three opposition supporters were killed in an anti-government protest on January 21.
