EU may send mission to Albania to support political talks in September.

The EU will reportedly send a mission to Albania in September, with the task to support constrictive dialogue between ruling Democratic Party (DP) and the opposition Socialist Party (SP), local media reported. As noted, the two political parties clashed over the outcome of latest general elections on June 28, 2009. The socialists claimed the vote lacked transparency and asked for a ballot recount. Subsequently, EU Parliament members have held a number of consultations with DP head and PM Sali Berisha and SP chairman Edi Rama. However, the two political leaders have failed to reach a compromise decision yet. Talks were resumed last month with the participation of parliament group heads Astrit Patozi (DP) and Gramoz Ruci (SP).
