EP foreign committee adopts draft resolution on Croatias progress.

The European Parliament's Foreign Affairs Committee adopted a draft resolution on the countrys progress in its road to the EU membership. The resolution stressed that the country should finalise its accession negotiations by the end of the year if it meets all criteria. The proposal was supported by 54 members, while 8 abstained from voting. The draft resolution was proposed by the European Parliament's rapporteur on Croatia , Hannes Swoboda. It will be put to the vote in EP in February. The resolution stated that the country had to work further on public administration, judicial reform, fight against corruption and organised crime, sustainability of refugee returns and cooperation with the UN war crimes tribunal in The Hague . On a related note, Swoboda made a forecast that Croatia is more likely to join EU in mid-2012 or early 2013. Swoboda added that the country may be able to finalise the accession negotiations this year.
