EE: Estonia leads in hi-tech industry growth.

Estonian hi-tech industry growth amounted to 35.1% on average in the period from 2005-2011, which puts it number one among the EU27 countries, Eurostat research show. Poland ranked second with average growth rate of 14.5% y/y, followed by Austria with 6.8% y/y growth, and Czech Republic with 5.4% growth. Lithuania ranked 5th with 5.2% y/y growth. Latvia grew by 0.8% y/y during the period. Average EU27 hi-tech sector growth rate stood at 3.3% y/y on average in 2005-2011 period. Declines were registered in Greece, Italy, Portugal, and the UK. Hi-tech manufacturing includes pharmaceuticals, computers, electronic and optical products, and air spacecraft.
