The European Commission (EC) is expected to present today (Sep 2) a report on Albanias progress in the implementation of the EU visa liberalisation requirements to the European parliaments standing committee on civil liberties, justice and home affairs, local Klan TV reported. This report has been drafted by a group of EU experts who visited the country in mid-July. The European Parliament (EP) is expected to decide on the easing of the visa regime for Albanian citizens at a plenary session on Sept 21-23. As noted, the liberalisation process depends on the progress in three key areas related to the reintegration of returnees, the fight against organised crime and corruption as well as the treatment of assets obtained through organised crime activities.
