Mobile services provider Telenor Hungary posted an EBITDA profit of HUF 17.4bn for the period, falling by 6% y/y, which was attributed to a similar annual decline in the average revenue per user. The company still felt the effect of the economic crisis, its comments on the Q2 financial performance said. The total revenues of the operator were down by 7% y/y to HUF 41.4bn in Q2. The main factors for the fall were the price regulation on the side of call termination fees and the unfavourable economic situation. Lower demand for mobile services persisted despite efforts of the company to introduce new products but rising client interest was registered only in the segment of mobile broadband internet. Telenor Hungary reported 3.6mn subscribers at the end of the quarter, down by 0.8% q/q with the decline being concentrated in the pre-paid subscriptions segment. Overall financial results thus failed to be entirely supported by a cost-cutting and restructuring programme, which brought in a reduction of operating costs during the period. Telenor Hungary is part of the group of Norwegian telecom Telenor. |
