Croatia's July foreign tourist arrivals up by 5.8% y/y.

The number of foreign tourists in Croatia increased by 5.8% to 2.66mn in July after a 22.3% surge in June, the statistics office reported. The number of foreign tourist overnights rose by 2.8% y/y to 16.5mn in July after a 21.3% hike in June. The total number of tourists went up by 5.2% y/y to 2.89mn and the total number of overnights - by 2.6% y/y to 17.8mn. The number of domestic tourists inched down by 1.7% y/y to 227,178 and of domestic overnights inched up by 0.7% y/y to 1.31mn. The highest number of overnights was spent by visitors from Slovenia (15.6%), Germany (15%) and Czech Republic (10.4%). In aggregate terms, the number of tourist arrivals increased by 7.9% y/y to 6.3mn in Jan-Jul, while the number of overnights went up by 5.8% to 30.9mn. The number of foreign tourists was up by 9% y/y to 5.4mn and of the overnights - by 6.2% y/y to 27.8mn. The number of domestic tourists increased by 1.7% y/y to 897,920 and the overnights - by 2.6% y/y to 3.1mn in the first seven months of the year. The highest number of overnights was spent by tourists from Germany (19.7%), Slovenia (13.8%) and Austria (9.2%).
