Bosnia’s jobless rate stood at 46.1% at end-March, the same as the previous month, the country’s labour and employment agency said. It remained above its end-2012 (44.5%) and end-2011 (43.8%) levels though.

The agency also released jobless data for April 2013, pointing out that the number of registered unemployed increased 1.7% y/y to 549,519, mainly due to higher unemployment registrations in the Federation (up 3.1% over the period). In monthly terms, the number of unemployed edged down 0.7% m/m in April. The agency did not provide figures on the April’s unemployment rate.

Bosnia’s unemployment rate remains one of the region’s highest. According to the latest IMF forecast, it is expected to remain above its pre-crisis level of around 23% until 2017.
