CEE's biggest software company Asseco Poland is interested in take-overs in countries to the east and south of Poland, the firm's president Adam Goral has declared in an interview with daily Parkiet. He pointed to fast-growing markets of Africa and Far East in this context. The president revealed that the Asseco group has already started work on these subjects. Goral also said that talks on an acquisition in Russia are well advanced and "close to finalisation." In August, the firm signed a letter of intent in this respect. The president stressed that Asseco Poland will thus refrain from further acquisitions in Western Europe or the U.S. He explained that Asseco's tactics of "small steps" and purchasing smaller companies only to consolidate them afterwards proves ineffective on these markets, unlike in countries closer to Poland. When Asseco Poland becomes big ans strong on eastern markets, it will return to plans of its listing on Nasdaq and to western acquisitions, Goral concluded. |
