Belgium backs Albania's EU integration drive.

The Belgian government strongly supports the EU integration process and the liberalization of EU visa regime for Albania, Belgian PM Yves Leterme told his Albanian counterpart Sali Berisha in Brussels. The two leaders discussed the political and economic cooperation between the countries. Leterme stressed that democratic functioning of the institutions is of a key importance for the integration process. He referred to the current political deadlock in Albania and expressed confidence that the main political parties will find a way for constructive dialogue. Leterme also praised the efforts of Albanian authorities to act as a mediator in the Kosovo-Serbia dialogue. The two PMs also signed an agreement on transfer of convicted persons and a protocol of cooperation by the respective ministries of justice.
