Austria extends EUR 40mn soft loan to support e-govt projects in Albania.

Austria has extended a EUR 40mn soft loan to the Albanian government to support the implementation of e-government related projects, the Albanian Daily News reported. The financing will be used for the modernisation of the countrys tax administration, healthcare system and ownership data register. The loan agreement was signed by finance minister Ridvan Bode and Austrian Ambassador to Tirana, Florian Raunig. Bode said the Austria also supported the implementation of the civil register which served as the basis of the population registration and the biometric passports.
